Getting Away to the Balearic Islands
Where are you going on holiday this year? Not decided yet? Well how about the one of the “Balearic Islands”? With the most notable being the island of Majorca. Although it’s well know for its package holidays and the more obvious resorts like Magaluf and Palma de Mallorca with their buzzing nightlife or the much quieter family orientated atmosphere of Port de Soller and Port d’Alcudia. The southern east coast area is often over looked, but has much to offer.
The delightful area around “Cala De Mar” is not always an obvious choice, except for people in the know or for people that have stayed there before. It’s a quieter area of Majorca that has a very relaxed feel with its coastal location, which has many little coves situated around the surrounding coastline.
The Cala D’Or area is well known by lovers of sailing for its international standard marina at Cala Llonga, so you can expect plenty of boats and yachts sailing in and out of the harbour. The marina itself is good for dining out daytime or evening; there are also plenty of shops and café’s to frequent.
So head to Cala De Mar area to avoid the busy main resorts of Majorca and if you want a little peace and quiet without venturing too far, then seek out one of the small local coves with sandy beach, get your holiday reading out and relax in the sun, enjoy! As I’m sure you will want to return soon too.
